I like to think of myself as a reader, not because it’s a fancy thing to say, but because nothing compares to the feeling of seeing the world through the lens of another. It has been my observation that at certain times, my own biases cloud my reasoning and at such times I embark on what I like to call an intellectual adventure. I live for the thrill.
That being said, I am particular about what my mind consumes. I do not delight in namby-pamby style writing-lacking in directness or moral strength.
One author whose unique style of writing I’ve found particularly fascinating is Tomi Adeshina. I stumbled on her on twitter and thus the journey began. I have since read her works from Beautiful Stranger to All Fun and Games, Hearts and Homes, Clandestine to the flash fiction series “Dear George” and I am beyond impressed.
Having just read the legal series- Fola King, I can conveniently say that Tomi is to reader what a guide dog is to a blind man- you can trust her to take you through a maze and still arrive at your destination.
Tomi is a beautifully gifted raconteuse. She sustains your interest through suspense and a great conversation thread, takes you through deep moments of personal introspection as she lets you into the mind, mood, emotion and eccentricities of her characters-and that is a really beautiful thing.
Thank you again Tomi, for providing a different set of lenses with which to see the world. I will continue to cheer for you. God bless.
